The Pros and Cons of California Beach Rentals

California beach rentals can give you the perfect respite, but there are drawbacks to consider too. Here's a list of some noteworthy pros and cons.

Making that decision and taking that step to either get a full on beach rental, or to go with a hotel suite is actually a pretty hard one. They both afford you different types of luxuries and comforts, and  it really depends upon what you’re looking for out of a vacation when determining which is right for you.  That’s why it’s important you can consider both sides of the issue before making a decision, so that you can determine whether or not California beach rentals are the right move for you to make.  That way, you can either save yourself some trouble, or even some money by being more assured of the way that you want to take and enjoy your vacation.

What you’re going to find when it comes to beach homes for rent, is that they offer some distinct advantages and some disadvantages over hotel rooms.  While it may be obvious to see the differences when you really consider them, it’s not always as easy as you might think to pick out the best type for you and your family through your vacation.  That’s why you want to think about the pros and cons of California beach rentals before deciding.

First up, the pros of a rental home:

1) They are a lot larger than hotel rooms.

The main problem with hotel rooms is that they can feel a bit crammed, especially if you’re spending more than a weekend at the location.  You’re going to find that you’ll end up feeling like you live in a studio apartment before too long, and that’s going to have you looking for ways to get out of the room as often as possible, instead of thinking of just being able to lay back and relax.

2) Most California beach rentals provide a more homey experience.

If you’re vacationing for a week or even longer, these are a great idea because they really feel like a home away from home.  That’s because they feature  a full living room set, in addition to a full bedroom set, and a working kitchen.  This way, you can enjoy some family time the same way that you would at home, only throughout your vacation instead.

3) Oftentimes you can find real estate right on the beach.

Just imagine if you were able to live right off one of the California beaches, wouldn’t it be amazing to be able to take a few steps and be right on the beautiful sand right next to the ocean?  With most rentals you can do just this, and ensure that you’re able to take a few steps each morning, and be right out on the beach, where you can just lay back and relax and start off your day perfectly.

Despite these positives, there are always going to be some negatives that you have to prepare for as well to be sure you really want to make this decision:

1) California beach rentals are expensive.

The main drawback of something like renting a home for a temporary amount of time, is that it’s really expensive.  These are going to really cost you, and you’ll end up paying over a grand to stay just a week, and well more than that if you want to stay longer.  That’s not always easy for anyone to pay, but it is a fair price if you do plan on a longer vacation anyway.

2) Expect plenty of fees to go along with the property.

Two types of fees you’re likely to encounter include a one time cleaning fee, as well as a security deposit just like when you rent an apartment.  These are there to cover the cost of cleaning once you leave the home, as well as covering any damage that you do while you’re staying there, to ensure that it can be paid for.  But sometimes, even If you treat the properly carefully it can be hard getting your deposit money back, meaning that’s a ton of money practically wasted for no reason.

3) Oftentimes you have to play really far ahead.

For just about any types of California vacation beach rentals you have to plan well in advance.  Rental homes are never in abundance, and that means that they really fill up fast during tourism season.  In order to ensure that you’re going to be able to get one, you’re going to have to make your accommodations well in advance of the desired travel date.  Otherwise California beachfront rentals are difficult to completely impossible for you to find, no matter the time of season.
